Lord Goddard, the former leader of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and life peer, has been announced as the new ambassador for Stockport based charity, The Garden House (Marple) Charity.
The Garden House in Marple is a community farm, and has been a registered charity since January 2019. They provide families, groups and organisations from around the Stockport and Greater Manchester area with an outdoor safe space to learn about nature and the environment. They work alongside many local charities, including the Seashell Trust, the Together Trust and Pure Innovations, as well as schools such as Melland High School, Penarth Group School and Brabyn’s Preparatory School to name but a few.
Lord Goddard said, “It is a pleasure and a privilege to become an ambassador for The Garden House. They are a fantastic charity, and a valuable asset to the Stockport community, and I’m really enthusiastic about getting stuck into the role.”
Kevin Swindells, director of The Garden House, said, “We are absolutely delighted that Lord Goddard has accepted our invitation to be an ambassador for The Garden House, and we’re really looking forward to working alongside him in the future.”
