Placements

At The Garden House our hugely successful and transformative specialist in house placement programme, ELEVATE, supports young adults in Stockport aged 14-24 who are NEET and facing barriers to progression into work and training.

Our mentor buddy, Abbie, works with our young people on a 121 and in a group setting to rebuild confidence and trust and develop vital work and life skills, bridging the gap into work or education and a positive future.

Attending their volunteer placement one day a week, participants work in animal care, community gardening or farm maintenance.

All participants follow a personalised programme and work towards unit certificates from the AQA Unit Award Scheme to demonstrate their learning, skills, development and achievements.

There is nothing generic about our programme – the young adult is firmly at the centre of everything we do. We don’t judge, we meet our young people exactly where they are at.

Referrals and applications to ELEVATE come directly from parents/ carers and are for young people not currently engaged in any work, education or training programmes and not receiving any support from outside agencies.

We are not a conveyor belt or a tick box, your young adult is not a number to us. We provide meaningful support that truly changes lives.

We are here to help build bridges to the future, whatever that pathway may look like.  We work with external partners to support the young person across all areas of their life and to becoming a confident citizen. We learn from our young people and adapt our programme to meet the barriers they are experiencing.

ELEVATE is funded through Sector3 and SMBC as part of the brilliant Economic Inactivity Trailblazer Project in Stockport. We are immensely proud to be leading the way in doing things differently and helping make change happen for our young people and their families.

How do I apply?

Our next round of applications will open late September 2026 for Stockport residents age 14-24 who are not in education, employment or training.
